Filippos and his wife Ruth would like to introduce their two new villas, which were started this winter and have now been completed. They are two very comfortable newly built stone houses, located on a hillside overlooking the small port of Kassiopi. They enjoy the rare facility of being in a countrified location with lovely natural pebble beaches within easy walking distance of 5-10 minutes in to the village of Kassiopi. Filippos and Ruth live unobtrusively nearby and will be on hand to assist clients as and when required. Many years ago, Filippos's ancestors came from Epirus on the mainland of Greece, driven out by the marauding Turks, and it was in 1560 that Filippos's great great great.......grandparents bought a substantial property, sloping down to what was then the tiny fishing hamlet of Kassiopi, with its perfect natural harbour. A stone house was built with a commanding view of the sea, holding a strategic position, looking North to the Corfu Channel and the Albanian mountains. The location proved valuable in the last war, when the Germans and Ittalians used it as a look out point, and to store ammunition. Filippos's mother, a small child at the time remembers being given chocolate from the "enemy" and also hiding in a small natural cave on the property to avoid bombs by the British. This small cave has been retained and made into a feature. Filippos's immense pride in his family's history is reflected in the many touches found in these comfortable houses. Whilst the original stone house was demolished to make way for new villas, each original piece of old stone has been "recycled and utilized", giving the houses a wonderful feeling of history. The houses faithfully follow traditional Corfiot design, whilst incorporating today's modern comforts. Built also with the use of local stone, there has been huge attention made to the detail in retaining the traditional style. Extensive all round terraces ensure a mixture of country views, over olive groves and up to the hills behind, to panoramic views over Kassiopi to the sea and coastline. The great advantages of the villas are their close proximity to Kassiopi, this makes them ideal for couples, in the low season. Couples maybe enjoying "quality time", with a small child with scenic walks and admiring the natural beauty of the area (beautiful wild flowers in May), reading and chilling out. In the high season, those with teenagers can enjoy a quiet night at home whilst their children can walk safely into the village and creep back in the early hours without disturbing their parents. It is possible to manage without a car although, it is always recommended in order to explore the island. A boat is also recommended as a very enjoyable way of seeing the stunning coastline and enjoying a secluded swim at one of the many beautiful bays, or relaxing over a long lunch at one of the many tavernas on the coast. VILLA LOUKAS (Sleeps 6) Villa Loukas is in a slightly more elevated position than Villa Angelina and boasts beautiful sea views out over Kassiopi, Imerolia and the coast beyond. The large "L" shaped living room incorporates a well equipped open-plan kitchen and is incredibly sunny, with four large French doors leading onto covered terraces, with both country and sea views. A beautiful fireplace dominates the room, with an open fire giving the house a cosy evening atmosphere in the early and late season, when the nights can be cooler. In the summer months, a choice of paddle fans or air-conditioning provides a welcome contrast to the heat of the day. With en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms and a seperate guest WC, every possible comfort has been thought of. ACCOMMODATION Ground Floor: Open-plan kitchen and living/dining area, Bedroom with twin beds and en-suite bathroom, guest WC. First Floor: Master Bedroom with double bed and en-suite with bathtub. Bedroom with twin beds and en-suite with shower. Both bedrooms with doors leading out to the balcony area. VILLA ANGELINA (Sleeps 4-5) Located just below Villa Loukas, the villa offers lovely sea views out over Kassiopi and to Imerolia and the coast beyond. Quality villas for four are a rarity, and although Villa Angelina has exactly the same internal floor area as its neighbour, it enjoys the luxury of having just two bedrooms each with bathroom. The large spacious living area has four French doors leading onto covered terraces with both country and sea views. A beautiful open fireplace dominates the room, with an open fire giving a cosy atmosphere in early and late season, when the nights can be cooler. In the summer months a choice of paddle fans or air-conditioning provides a welcome contrast to the heat of the day. It has a seperate kitchen/dining area, en-suite shower rooms and a seperate guest WC. Pretty flower beds and a small lawned area seperate the swimming pool, with comfortable teak sunbeds, large umbrellas and a covered pergola providing shade. The big stone built BBQ is ideal for alfresco summer dining. A privately accessible pathway leads to the sea for rock swimming approximate 8-10 minutes walk (and Soukia Beach a few minutes walk thereafter) ACCOMMODATION Ground Floor: Open plan living/dining area, seperate kitchen, Guest WC. Each property are equipped with Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Microwave, Satellite TV, DVD Player , Music Centre with CD Player, Iron and Ironing Board. Freshwater swimming pool and BBQ area. Double and single beds are interchangeable and can be changed by advance request. Divan bed available on request for Villa Angelina. Both properties are managed by their owners. Maid service is six days per week with a linen change twice a week and a complimentary food hamper on arrival. Transfer from the airport to the accomodation is clients reponsibilty and if required information regarding taxi service and car hire can be supplied. **Please note that the 2009 pool heating (extra cost payable locally), central heating, telephone and internet services will also be available** In a short ten minute walk from the villas, is the village of Kassiopi with its restaurants, bars and shops and supermarkets. Most beaches and coves can be reached within the same walking distance and Bataria Beach for watersports is approximately 15 minutes away. Aiport & Corfu Town is 35 kilometres/50 minutes by car.
